Five Financial Hacks
We’re well into the New Year and one of the resolutions that always seem to fall by the waist side is getting our finances in order. If this idea terrifies you, you’re not alone. At Chic Headquarters we got to chatting about organizing our Benjamins and the idea this pretty much FREAKED US OUT. Fear not, Chic Tribe, we’re all in this together. We came up with 5 foolproof financial hacks to get our wallets in order.
Sales Are Not Really Sales
Sales are an illusion. They’re convincing our brains that we’re “saving money” but the truth is, you really just spent money. Now, we’re NOT saying never pick something up off the sales rack but we ARE saying use some judgment when selecting that adorable piece from the red dot sale. Retrain your brain to like the “item” first and the “sale” second.
Don't Spend Then Save
A lot of us found that we’re spending our dough then attempting to save after we’ve already gone shopping. Flip the order. Decide how much you should save directly out of your paycheck first, next set up an automatic transfer to your savings account. This way you’re saving from the whole pie and not just the leftovers.
Create a Dream Board
When you see it, you believe it! So create a vision board of either your dream vacation or even your dream home and hang it somewhere in your home At the end of each week whether you have extra coins or cash place it inside a jar labeled DREAMS. BONUS TIP: Hide the jar where it's not easily visible so you don't have temptation to reach inside! -->Get Your Family Involved
Cut The Cord
Say goodbye to cable! You can save roughly $60 dollars or more a month. There are so many options to help with your viewing pleasure. Amazon Prime members have the option to upgrade to Amazon Fire TV, where you’ll get all of Amazon streaming services included. Add Netflix too and you’re sure to be catching all of the buzzworthy shows that all your co-workers are talking about on Mondays.
The Online Buying Rule
Are you a shopaholic whose cart is always full? I’m not saying you have to stop drooling over clothes cause that’s crazy talk, BUT give yourself a time limit before your allowed to click purchase. If you still love it after a week then it’s a purchase that you know you actually want as opposed to just getting that shopping high. You aren’t just impulse buying because you shopped thoughtfully.
Let's be Friends!
On Wednesdays we wear pink... just kidding, we don't care what you wear, we just want to be pals.
