When Victoria’s Secret me to share my tips for girl’s weekend packing, I jumped at the chance. The only moment that gave me pause is that Girls Weekend packing looks a lot different when, well, you’re no longer a girl! At thirty-three my weekend trips have different priorities and activities then they did when I was twenty-three. But a girls weekend is still an essential part of connecting with my tribe and I want to make sure I give them the same energy I would a business or family trip. So last weekend when I went to Texas for a whole long weekend with my best friend, this is what I packed and why.
Going Out Clothes – I always pack a pair of dark denim for my trips because it can transition so easily from day to night. Don’t forget a fun top that you can dress up or dress down. Your favorite shoes are a must and so is a clutch! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten my clutch and ended up using my makeup bag!
Workout Clothes – In the past I used to plan my whole weekend around where we were eating. OK, I still sort of do that now, but I’m much more mindful about making sure I get a chance for some exercise as well. All I really want is the opportunity to catch up and we can do that just as easily on a long walk or a hiking trail. To that end I make sure and pack great workout gear. I love the color and pattern in the Victoria’s Secret Knockout Capris. So fun for spring!
Pool Clothes – Always pack a swimsuit. Always! No matter where you’re going there is always the possibility of some pool time. Even if it’s cold outside your hotel might have a jacuzzi you can get in on and you’ll be super bummed if you don’t have anything to wear. Make sure you’ve got a great suit and a cute cover up with all the ruffles and you’ll be ready.
Staying In Clothes – The only thing better than being out an about on a girls weekend is being in… on a sofa… drinking wine and laughing our faces off. Cozy loungewear including my favorite hoodie and sweatpants, are nearly as essential to me as my going out clothes. Plus I love the stitching on the side of these pajamas (pun intended!)
