Yesterday I was sifting through the Chic office drawers and found Rachel’s adorable card organization system. She simply ties together the cards she’s been given for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and labels them with the year she received them. This is stupid genius!
Personally, I have never known how to properly store my old birthday, graduation or miscellaneous cards through the years. Should I keep them in this jumbled box or throw them away? I always am overwhelmed by the idea of clutter, so at first I’ll “sentimentally” throw them in a drawer until I get in a ravenous clean-sweep mode and bam: trash! But what if one day I want to look back at a special birthday or occasion? Well, we’ve got ourselves a solution!
When I asked Rachel about these cute card packages, she told me that she got the idea from her mother-in-law, whom always saves her cards and goes through them at the end of each year. What a great way to reminisce.
As you can see, it’s pretty simple. You can label your cards by year, by occasion or by holiday. Find a spacious home for your past cards so that you can keep adding to your card stash. Rachel chose a natural looking twine and tag to make these memory packages look as sweet as their contents.
Who knows, maybe in five years you’ll think, I want to look at my birthday cards from 2013! Start the tradition today!
