I’m Rachel Hollis. I’m a proud working mama of four kids alongside my ultra hunky husband Dave. We live in Texas hill country just outside of Austin where we run The Hollis Company and try a new restaurant every week on date night.
I worship coffee like a deity, I read books like my life depends on it and think La Croix is one of the greatest inventions of the last decade. I’m probably most well known as the author of the book Girl, Wash Your Face (which has sold about 4.5 MILLION copies in the last couple of years– bananas, I know!) But long before I wrote all my books or had one of the most successful podcasts in the world or produced massive conferences or founded my media company– I was a blogger. Here on my blog you can find posts dating back for years… it’s kind of a diary for my life over the last decade. From my older posts (lots and lots of recipes) to my newer posts on everything from favorite my books to my favorite sweaters to how to change your life, my intention with this site is the same as my intention with my company and all of my platforms… I want to give you tools that make your life better. Here on the blog you’ll discover thousands of posts with entirely free content. I hope you find it helpful and I hope you’ll check out my other sites and social feeds which all have different content to share. Above all please remember this… you are worthy and capable of achieving anything you set your heart to. I’m rooting for you! –Rach
I started my blog after I caught my Thanksgiving turkey on fire. Seriously. I was a wannabe domestic goddess armed with a printout from MarthaStewart.com. The recipe called for a brine and a cheesecloth… I’d never used either. The brine involved white wine, the giant turkey pushed the cheesecloth right up to the top of the flaming hot oven, the results were tragic. After I recovered from that disaster, I decided someone else needed to show me how to do things. I wanted to try making things that were cool, but not fancy. I wanted to cook food that was delicious, but achievable. I wanted to figure out what to wear, but I couldn’t afford anything beyond the clearance rack. Also, I needed to accomplish these things in a reasonable amount of time. When I couldn’t find the type of content I was looking for, I decided to try and create it myself. I’m thrilled to report that I haven’t lit any poultry on fire since this site.
The Hollis Company
I’ve been an entrepreneur for 16 years and it’s been a wild ride. What started as a teeny, tiny media company poised to help me create posts for this blog became the medium-sized media company (58 employees at last count) that is The Hollis Company today. HoCo produces content in every kind of media format: books, podcasts, movies, social and live events as well as physical products. Everything we create exists with the same goal in mind: we want to give you the tools to make permanent and lasting, positive changes in your life. Beyond what we create I’m incredibly proud of the people we are. The HoCo staff are some of the hardest working, most dedicated, most fun people you could ever meet– if y’all have ever interacted with them at one of our events then you know it’s true. If you’re interested you can read all about our company culture and values on our LinkedIn page.
