red love
Red is my favorite color. Red lipstick, red nail polish, red dresses, red coaches – I love them all. However, knowing that too much red can be a rather aggressive decor choice, I’ve opted for only a few splashes of it throughout my apartment. One of my most cherished pieces are these chairs I originally painted a year back.
Taking them from these 1 toned chairs to this 3 toned Ombre look was a fun project. I think it gives them a more funky and interesting look. Here’s how I spruced them up.

1. Chairs – {thrift store or flee markets are a great place to find unique pieces}
2. Spray paint in 2 or 3 shades, depending on if you’re sticking with a base color.
3. Painter’s tape

{Step by Step}
Let the spraying begin!
First, using the trash-bags and tape, cover the area you don’t want the paint to touch. I went with brightest color on top and darkest color on bottom. Spray 2 or three coats, allowing plenty of time to dry in between.

After the chair is fully dried, take the tape and trash bags off. At first, The paint will have an abrupt line where the tape was placed. To blend the colors together, use the spray paint and lightly spray around the paint line to create a subtle fade.

As you can see, the chair on the left shows a more subtle blend into the dark red. Whether you decide to leave blunt edges or go for a full blend is your call.
