It’s my favorite time of year!  As a girl who grew up in Southern California and now calls Kentucky home, fall has become my most favorite season.  I’ve always loved the traditional fall colors of warm reds, rusts, browns and golds.  And since my birthday is in the month of October I can’t help but feel like nature is throwing me a party.  It’s the perfect time of year to rekindle your love affair with your home and give your little nest a cozy makeover.  And the best part is it doesn’t have to cost a you a dime!

Here are 7 no cost ways to dress your home for fall.

1. Raid your wardrobe.

I’ll bet you already have a couple of warm weather scarves in your closet.  Bust them out and put them to use.  I like to wrap a scarf around White Beauty on my mantel at this time of year, but I’ve also been known to use a scarf in place of a throw blanket to add some warmth and color to the back of a chair.

2. Bring the outdoors in.

There’s really nothing simpler than bringing in a bunch of branches or leaves from your backyard to create a centerpiece or better yet, make it a family outing by going on a nature walk.

3. Repurpose linens.

A scarf, a quilt or even a flannel bed sheet could make a beautiful tablecloth at this time of year.

A framed napkin is an easy way to add in some fall color.  Here I combined 2 tips  – bringing in some dried magnolia leaves from the yard and layering them over a framed napkin to create a simple no cost diy art piece for the season.

4. Group collections.

Since fall is all about gathering and harvesting, grouping collections like candlesticks, vases or in my case trophy cups is an easy way to give a vignette a fall look just by rearranging what you already have.

5. Use your groceries.

Bowls of apples or pumpkins make the most beautiful centerpieces and give life to a coffee or console table.

6. Uncork the possibilities.

Isn’t it a well known fact that more wine is consumed during the fall and winter months?  Since fall is all about texture, might as well put all those corks to use.

7. Warm up your home.

It really is just as simple as bringing in a candle or layering a throw blanket over a chair.  It doesn’t have to be fussy or overdone, it’s the time of year to slow down, light a candle and cuddle up under your favorite throw blanket ……..while enjoying a glass of wine.  Cheers to warming up your home for the season!
