This recipe is actually a childhood favorite of Rachel’s. She was telling me about this awesome Taco Pizza her mom used to make all the time. So I decided to bring it back to life for her. It’s the best of both worlds, bringing together two of my favorite dishes; tacos and pizza!
The first steps we need to do are, bake the store bought pizza dough for a bit to crisp it up. Cook the ground beef taco filling (in this case topping) and cook the refried beans.
Spread the beans on top of the baked pizza dough. That’s our “sauce” for the pizza. Then sprinkle with lots of cheese. Return to the oven once more to melt the cheese, about 5 minutes.
Then top the pizza with the hot taco filling.
Then just add all of your favorite taco toppings!
Cut into slices and serve right away. Enjoy!
- 1 pre-baked pizza dough
- 1 (15oz) can refried beans
- 2 cups monterey or cheddar cheese
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 small yellow onions, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 jalapeño, chopped (optional)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 3 tablespoons tomato sauce
- 1 roma tomato, diced
- 1 avocado, diced
- 1/2 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1/4 cup scallions, sliced
- sour cream, for topping
- hot sauce
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Bake the pizza crust to brown it slightly and crisp it up. Remove from oven and set aside.
- In a large skillet brown the ground beef with the onions, garlic, and jalapeño, until fully cooked. Stir in the seasonings, and tomato sauce and cook for about 5 minutes. Cook the refried beans in a small pot, smashing them with the back of a spoon. I like to add a splash of water to thin them out a bit.
- Spread the baked pizza crust with the beans and top with cheese. Bake for about 5 minutes to melt the cheese. Top with the seasoned taco filling and sprinkle on the toppings. Cut into slices and serve right away. Enjoy!
