May the 4th be with you!!!
It’s May the 4th which, if you didn’t know, is Star Wars day. Star Wars was such a huge part of my childhood so I am peeing-my-pants-excited to see the new movie this Christmas. I just had to celebrate! I wanted to do something cute that you could incorporate into a Star Wars themed birthday party (or just to snack on if you’re a super fan) and so I made these R2-D2 Cupcakes. They’re totally adorable, and because it’s me we’re talking about here, they’re also so easy anyone can pull this off.
Gather all of the ingredients above and get ready to ice!
To ice the R2-D2 cupcakes you’re going to make a sort of rounded mound with the icing… we’re trying to make R2’s dome shaped head so work to give it the right shape.
You don’t need fancy icing equipment to get a smooth icing. Just use the flat side of a butter knife like I did above (not the side with the little teeth) and it’ll glide on perfectly.
Use the white gel icing to create the sections of his head and the black gel icing to make his, er, eyes? Mouth? I guess they’re just buttons but they’re as distinct a part of him as anyone’s face would be so make sure you get them the right sizes.
