When my boys get home from school they’re hungry, hungry hippos. They head straight for the kitchen and snack on anything they can get their hands on. Because I work full-time I try and prep as much as I can in advance so I know exactly what they’re eating when I’m not around. I do this with our lunchtime box, our breakfasts and most recently, their after school snacks. Whether you’re a working mom or a stay at home, this little trick can be a total time saver!
I used these plastic mason jars because A: even my minions can’t break plastic and B: they have holes in the top which allows the veggies to breath.
I fill our after school snacks with every kind of veggie, cheese, or cracker I can find!
Then I add ranch dressing, cream cheese, salsa, peanut butter, almond butter or hummus to a small disposable dressing container and add that last.
You can prep your after school snacks on Sunday and then they’re ready throughout the week. This is also a great plan for those of you who want to encourage yourself to have healthy snacks, no matter what age you are!
