Apple pie milkshakes are one of those desserts that you can indulge in every once in a while! It’s like combining two classic treats and turning it into an out of this world experience. Yes. Experience. Making milkshakes is actually a lot of fun and in the end you get this yummy dessert that you can drink through a straw or eat with a spoon. Milkshakes are the best. Apple pie milkshakes are just downright amazing.
I’m taking a lot of help from the store for these. The first thing we need to do is get the pie crust ready. It wouldn’t be an apple pie milkshake without the crust!
My favorite part of any pie is the crust, so I had to make sure to include it some how in this recipe. We’re taking store bought pie crust but jazzing it up with cinnamon sugar.
For the apple part of this recipe, I grabbed a can of that already made pie crust. It’s a lifesaver, but you can also just use fresh cut up apple for the same effect.
To make the milkshakes, combine vanilla ice cream, milk, apple pie filling and some of that crumbled crust in a blender. Blend until thick and smooth. If the milkshake appears to be too thick, add a splash more milk.
Pour into tall milkshake glasses and garnish with a few crumbled of pie crust on top. Don’t forget the straw! It’s the perfect end of week treat, enjoy!
- 1 frozen 9-inch pie shell
- 1 egg, beaten with a splash of water
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 can apple pie filling
- 1 pint vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and place thawed pie crust directly on baking sheet. Brush the top with egg wash and sprinkle liberally with cinnamon sugar (sugar and cinnamon mixed together). Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool, and then crumble with your hands.
- In a blender, combine the ice cream, apple pie filling, most of the pie crust crumbs, and milk. Blend until smooth and thick. If it is too thick, add a splash more milk until desired consistency is reached. Garnish with a few crumbles of pie crust on top. Enjoy!
