spicy ginger iced tea recipes

Looking for a refreshing summertime drink? Try out this Spicy Ginger Iced Tea, it’ll brighten up your day and make you fall in love with iced tea (if you aren’t already). Fresh ginger is steeped along with the tea and cucumber and mint are added as a garnish.

The first thing we need to do is make the tea. Add a few tea bags (4 normal sized or 2 family size tea bags) and a few slices of fresh ginger to a large pitcher. Pour in the hot water.

Allow the tea and ginger to steep for at about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your iced tea. I steeped it for about 5 minutes and that was more than enough.

Fish out the tea bags and ginger. You can leave the ginger in for a powerful ginger flavor.

Sprinkle in as much or as little of the paprika as you’d like. You could also use, chili powder or cayenne pepper, for a spicier iced tea!

Allow the tea to chill in the fridge for several hours or until ready to serve. Once ready, you can fill up a couple of glasses with ice, cucumber slices and a sprig of fresh mint.

I like to keep this iced tea in the fridge all the time, that way I have something refreshing and delicious ready to drink whenever I get thirsty. It’s especially perfect in the summer when the days are so hot!

Feel free to omit the cayenne pepper if you don’t like your drinks to be too spicy. You can also make this the night before that way it chills overnight. You can sweeten it with a bit of agave syrup or by making a simple syrup. We preferred it unsweetened. Enjoy!
