Last week my new book Sweet Girl came out and we decided to throw a book launch party to celebrate. My prerequsites were yummy food, wine, desserts and friends with a few fun touches thrown in to make it special. I had such a blast and everything turned out so wonderfully, I just had to share.
I really wanted to add some fun element of the party that was green. My instagram this month is themed to the color green and I couldn’t resist tying it in with the party. Since the character in the book always wears a bracelet, my mind went in that direction. Unfotunately, I thought this two days beforehand which wasn’t enough time for us to get everyone jewelry. Instead, we made a little ribbon station. Each guest was asked to tie on a green ribbon, and even though everyone at Chic teased me about the idea, I thought it turned out so cute! No matter what kind of party you’re throwing, I think it’s fun to have something for guests to do when they arrive. Sign a guest book, take a picture or even tie a green bow on the wrist… starting with an activity (and a drink!) gets everyone in the spirit.
The buffet was so gorgeous it was like party decor all on it’s own. We served cheese, veggies, hummus, crackers, etc… anything people could easy nosh on while chatting with friends or sipping champagne.
There was also tray passed appetizers of fried chicken, ricotta stuffed squash blossoms, crab cakes and mini avocado toast.
Now what’s a good book launch party without a signature cocktail?? Since this party started on the earlier side we served mimosas, bellinis, wine and champagne.
My absolute favorite memory of the night was having the whole Chic team together looking so spiffy in their party duds. I mean seriously, how cute is this picture of the whole crew?
