Happy Birthday to my love 💛 The heart of our fami Happy Birthday to my love 💛The heart of our family, the center who keeps us grounded, the baker of the bread, the king of Christmas, the cruise director, the level head to my deep (and often dramatic) feelings… we’re all so wildly blessed to have you.
For Mother’s Day I requested “the kind of pastry b For Mother’s Day I requested “the kind of pastry basket you get at a hotel breakfast” and our in-house baker made enough homemade goods to feed a small army.We played tennis (badly) went to brunch (absolutely nailed that one) got flowers and letters and Noah made me a “pocket” (with great lashes, obvi) and even though we were down one kid, he did pay a local acapella group ( @asteriknu )at school for a Mother’s Day gram (with Pitch Perfect reference that only the real ones will get) a singing telegram + a little bit of sunshine + my very own paper pocket + fries and cinnamon rolls is pretty much my idea of the perfect day ☀️ Happy Mothers Day to all the Mamas!
There was a version of my business that got so big There was a version of my business that got so big I couldn’t touch it anymore.18 years. 60 employees. Live events that filled rooms all over the country. And then the pandemic took all of it — the big thing, the little things, everything in between. It took me years to decide to try again. But when I did, I made myself a promise: if I build something new, I have to be able to put my hands on every part of it. You can’t scale your values if you never lived them at the start. So after we got back from Chicago, I sat down and hand-wrote a note in every single RISE workbook. Cez and I stuffed the envelopes ourselves, had a full standoff with a label maker that nearly broke us both 🤣 the joy when we finally figured it out was unreal. We shipped every single package ourselves earlier this week.I’m sure there are very smart founders who would look at this and think: that doesn’t scale. And they’re right. It doesn’t.But somewhere, a woman is going to open that package and I hope, feel like someone cared about her enough to put some extra effort in. I want to be that kind of business, even if the scaling takes a little longer.Start it with your hands. Start it with your heart. Not because you’ll do it this way forever, but because YOU will be in the foundation. And when it grows, it’ll grow into something that actually looks like you. 🤟
