I have to confess that I had no clue what Sherbet Church Punch was during our editor’s meeting. All the ladies looked at me like if I was missing out on the greatest creation ever invented. So naturally they all proceeded to tell me just exactly what a sherbet punch is and informed me that it’s traditionally served at church gatherings or bridal and baby showers. Guess what, they were right…sherbet church punch is the greatest drink ever invented!
Don’t mix together your punch, until you’re ready to serve it. That way the soda stays bubbly and the sherbet doesn’t completely melt.
In a large punch bowl (or giant pitcher) pour in the fruit punch. I used one of those frozen fruit punch concentrates mixed with water.
Next up is the pineapple juice. If you’re not a fan of pineapple juice, feel free to swap it out for any other light-colored juice. Whatever is your favorite!
The last liquid going in is a bottle of 7-up soda, but you can definitely use ginger ale if you prefer! The carbonation from the soda adds a nice fizziness to the punch and works really well with the sherbet.
We’re going to add some fresh fruit to make use feel not-so-guilty once we add the sherbet scoops. I used fresh raspberries, sliced strawberries and pineapple slices. Drop them into the punch.
The very last step is to drop in the sherbet. I like to do this right before serving so that it doesn’t completely melt.
I used a raspberry rainbow sherbet for our punch, but if you have a favorite sherbet that you prefer, feel free to swap it out for that! I like the raspberry sherbet for this because I think it goes so well with the different juices and of course those fresh raspberries. Enjoy!
- 1 can frozen fruit punch concentrate, (made according to the directions on the can)
- 1 (64 Fl. oz) bottle pineapple juice
- 1 (2L) bottle 7-up
- 1 pint fresh raspberries
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 pineapple, peeled and cut into thin round slices
- 10 to 12 scoops raspberry rainbow sherbet
- Scoop out the sherbet onto a baking sheet and freeze for several hours. You can do this the night before.
- In a large punch bowl or pitcher, combine the fruit punch, pineapple juice and 7-up. Throw in the fresh raspberries, sliced strawberries and pineapple slices. Right before servings, drop in the sherbet scoops. Serve right away. Enjoy!
