I love holiday decorations you guys!
I look forward to decorating for weeks in advance and I was so excited to get our tree this past weekend so we could start the whole holiday makeover. Some of you may have seen on my Instagram story that I made a DIY craft to go along with it and shared pics from last year’s holiday decorations. Typically I’m using a lot of the same items over and over but I nab a few new things here and there to update my look. Check out what I did below…
The mantle is always the thing I’ve most excited to decorate! I made that DIY garland a few years ago using scraps from the Christmas tree lot. The stars are a collection of past Christmas decor and a vintage checker board we have.
In the last couple of years I had stockings that were all a similar burlap material but this year I thought it would be fun to do mix and match. I just love the way it turned out.
This is my favorite tree we’ve ever had because it’s full of homemade ornaments. Every year my boys make new ornaments which makes the tree feel so special. The rest of the things you see are the ornaments I’ve collected since I was a child.
We’re BIG fans of the Elf on the Shelf in our house! Need some ideas on what to do with yours? Check out this long list of fun ideas I posted on my Facebook page!
Do you like those bows? That was a game-time decision! Dave picked out this gorgeous tree but it was too tall so our star wouldn’t fit! That’s why the stars ended up on the mantle and I used a spool of ribbon to add some pops of red to the whole display.
I wanted to add some red to my sofa but I didn’t have any holiday blankets. My answer? I used one of my ponchos! I just folded it over and nobody will ever know… ok, well you know, but other than that…
A holiday pillow helped our chair get into the Christmas spirt! Hard to believe this chair used to be a total wreck. You can see the before and after here!
Ford begged and begged and begged for a nutcracker… so they all got one! We set these guys up on our entryway table along with the countdown to Christmas chain he made at school.
A bowl filled with pinecones and cinnamon sticks is simple decor for our side table.
I bought a pack of little fake trees (the kind you use to decorate your holiday village) and used them to add some spirit to my coffee table.
And last but not least, I’ve wanted to make this DIY wooden nativity for years! I saw it on Pinterest and thought it was so cute and easy enough to pull off with my limited painting skills. I just love how it turned out!
