Today I’m sharing a little tip that may just be life changing for any of you that were previously unaware. Okay, life changing may be a tiny bit of a stretch….but really it’s good. So there is this little tube of awesomeness that you can purchase at your local craft store – it’s called Rub ‘n Buff. One small tube runs about $6 yet it’s transformative power is worth 6 million dollars – okay, again a tiny stretch. But seriously, everyone under the sun needs a tube of this stuff in their craft/diy/home improvement stash. It comes in a variety of colors, but my personal favorite is “gold leaf”.
Why do you need it? Because you can do awesome things with it!
You can use it to paint wood. Giving a side table a little makeover is so simple and easy with rub ‘n buff.
A little bit goes a long way, so it even works on larger pieces of furniture like on this console table I added rub ‘n buff in gold leaf to the inset table top and also to the legs. Pretty crazy for one tiny little tube right?! Plus, I still had plenty left in the tube for other projects.
You can use it to easily transform cabinet hardware.
I’ve even used it to tone down super shiny brass sconces, giving them more of an old antique brass type of look.
Like I said it’s transformative power is amazing and the number of uses most definitely outweighs the cost. And the best part is you don’t have to be a diy pro or a crafting extraordinair to use it. The directions are quite simple, in fact it’s all in it’s name – you simply rub….then buff. I like applying it with my fingers, but you can also use a paint brush. Mineral spirits cleans it up easily or just a good warm water scrubbing with soap. More tips for using rub ‘n buff can be found here. It’s so easy to use!
